Pay It in Metal - also released under the name Pain Killer - is the third studio album by the Swiss hard rock band Krokus . It contains the single " Susie ".

background

The album Pay It in Metal or Pain Killer , which is available in four different cover artwork, was released just one year after its predecessor To You All . The line-up of the band remained unchanged and consisted of front man Chris von Rohr , guitarists Tommy Kiefer and Fernando von Arb as well as the rhythm section Jürg Naegeli on bass and Freddy Steady on drums. The entire album was recorded in just six days at Manor Studios in Oxford . Meanwhile the music took on more and more the features of the following albums. A straightforward, not very playful hard rock was presented. The songwriting duo von Arb / von Rohr also crystallized more and more. Tommy Kiefer, who was responsible for more than half of the songs on the previous album, only worked as a songwriter for the title "Deadline". Not least because of the single " Susie " and the videos for "Bye Bye Baby" and "Rock Me, Rock You", the album was an even bigger success than To You All . The reward was appearances in support of Mother's Finest and the Scorpions . Pay It in Metal or Pain Killer is the last album with Jürg Naegeli on bass and Chris von Rohr on mic - the latter gave the mic to the new singer Henry Fries while on tour and switched to bass. From now on, Jürg Naegeli took care of the band's sound. But Fries was not to remain loyal to the band for long: he quit before the recordings for the successor Metal Rendez-Vous . In retrospect, a real stroke of luck for Krokus , because after persistent recruitment attempts by Chris von Rohr, the Maltese frontman Marc Storace was won over. Like the debut album Krokus , Pay It in Metal or Pain Killer is still not available on CD. According to Chris von Rohr, the album was not produced by Harry Sprenger, the band's manager at the time, as it is printed on the recordings, but by Fernando von Arb and Chris von Rohr himself.
