Long Stick Goes Boom: Live from da House of Rust -

Long Stick Goes Boom: Live from da House of Rust is the third live album by the Swiss hard rock band Krokus .

background

After the release of the third number 1 album Dirty Dynamite in February 2013, Krokus first undertook a small tour through Switzerland in the spring with several concerts in the Kulturfabrik Kofmehl in Solothurn and the Volkshaus in Zurich . Since front man Marc Storace , lead guitarists Fernando von Arb and Mandy Meyer , rhythm guitarist Mark Kohler and bassist Chris von Rohr had not yet integrated a permanent drummer, it was planned that Dani Löble, the current drummer of Helloween , and Flavio Mezzodi would join young drummer from Solothurn, who should play concerts alternately. But it turned out differently in the end: Since Löble had to cancel due to a serious cold, Mezzodi took over the drum role at all concerts on this tour and was immediately presented as the new permanent drummer by Krokus. With that, the line-up of the Swiss band was complete again when several festival dates were held in front of very different audiences in the summer of 2013. Immediately after the festival, Krokus played another charity show - again in the Kofmehl culture factory - for the benefit of two organizations working for children in need, the Theodora Foundation and the Kenyan Children Help organization. It was precisely this appearance - for Krokus the end of the concert in 2013 - that was ultimately selected from 20 recorded shows for the new live album. Long Stick Goes Boom: Live from da House of Rust was finally released in March 2014 and immediately reached number 3 on the Swiss album charts. As usual from Krokus, the album offers straightforward, down-to-earth, riff-heavy Hard Rock, which in turn was staged by Chris von Rohr as producer, earthy and powerful. Regarding the song material, only the studio works from Metal Rendez-Vous to Headhunter , i.e. from 1980 to 1983, as well as the newer albums Hellraiser , Hoodoo and Dirty Dynamite were used. Also included is the song “Live for the Action” composed especially for the 2009 Ice Hockey World Cup in Switzerland. Following the publication of Long Stick Goes Boom: Live from da House of Rust , Krokus initially completed a tour of Germany in spring 2014, before a number of festival dates were held again in the same summer and in the following year 2015. In addition, the band went on a concert tour to the USA for the first time since the reunion in autumn 2015. After only one concert in 2016, Krokus released the cover album Big Rocks at the end of January 2017 , which was recorded with the same line-up as Long Stick Goes Boom: Live from da House of Rust . The formation last managed a constant line-up on two consecutive albums in 1986 with the studio album Change of Address and the subsequent live release Alive and Sceamin ' .

Cover version

  • "American Woman" is a The Guess Who cover version. The song was originally released in 1970 on the album of the same name, The Guess Who .

useful information

  • Three of the 16 song names, including the medley, were not printed in the title list on the back in the original title, but in a modified slang variant: "Long Stick Goes Boom" as "Long Stick", the Bachman-Turner Overdrive Cover "American Woman" as "AM Woman" and "Better Than Sex" as "Betta Than Sex". The fact that “Tokyo Nights” was printed as “Tokyo Nights” could also be a misprint.
