Maurice Boeckx (born February 18, 1936 in Engsbergen , Belgium ) is a former Belgian cyclist who competed in road and track races in the 1950s .

Athletic career

Boeckx competed in cycling as an amateur . His most successful year was 1955, when he took part in the three-country stage race Internationale Friedensfahrt as a member of the Belgian national team . He won the first stage, was again on the podium in second place after the sixth stage, but then retired from the race. He started the cycling season in 1955 with a victory in the Belgian one-day race from Brussels to Tielt . In the same year Boeckx also took part in the Tour of Belgium , where he also won a stage, but did not make it into the top 20 riders in the final ranking.

In 1957 Boeckx shifted its activities to track cycling. At the Belgian track championships, he reached third place in the single pursuit . In the Leipzig European Criterion he reached third place with the Belgian four in the team pursuit race . Boeckx said goodbye to cycling in 1958 with a victory in the 100 km road criterion in the Belgian town of Kessel-Lo .
