The Beechcraft Model 65 Queen Air is a light twin-engine propeller plane from the American manufacturer Beechcraft . It can accommodate up to nine passengers.

history

The Queen Air was created on the basis of the smaller Twin Bonanza , from which the wings, engines, the chassis and the tail unit were taken over. The first flight completed the prototype of the Model 65 on 28 August 1958. This model had two Lycoming IGSO480 A1E6 - piston engines to 255 kW. The FAA approval took place on February 1, 1959. It was possible to shorten the take-off distance with jump starters. The seating can be removed from the interior in order to use the aircraft as a cargo plane with a cargo space of 7.53 m³. The military version of the US Army was named Beechcraft U-8F Seminole . The Japanese Self-Defense Forces also chose the Beech 65 as a navigation school and transport aircraft.

The second production version , Model A65 , had an arrow-shaped vertical tail fin and a larger fuel capacity than the original type. From 1960 the Queen Air was delivered.

1968 came Model 80 with 285 kW motors Lycoming IGSO540 A1D and with a pressurized cabin provided Model 88 and the Model 70 which will, however, had in turn two 255 kW motors a larger wingspan and a higher takeoff weight than the Model 65 .

From 1960 to 1977 1,001 copies were delivered. The Queen Air formed the basis for the King Air turboprop aircraft .

use

The aircraft is still used in civil aviation today.
