The Beetle Spur (English for beetle spur ) is a rock spur in the Antarctic Ross Dependency . It extends 3 km north of Mount Patrick from a small peak in the Commonwealth Range to the east side of the Beardmore Glacier .
The first sighting probably goes back to the four-man southern group of the Nimrod expedition (1907-1909) of the British polar explorer Ernest Shackleton . The descriptive name for the rock spur was suggested by geologist John D. Gunner of Ohio State University , who collected geological samples there during an expedition that lasted from 1969 to 1970.
