The flotillas in the original command area of ​​the BSN (German North Sea Coast) were combined to form the 5th Security Division in March 1942 . Nothing changed in this organization until the BSN was dissolved in January 1945. Only the security of the Danish coastal apron was handed over to the commanding Admiral Skagerrak when the 8th Security Division was set up .

With the dissolution of the BSN service, the 1st security division was assigned to the commanding admiral in the Netherlands and the 5th security division to the commanding admiral German Bight .
