Behind the laughter ( . English title: Behind the Laughter ) is the 22nd episode of the eleventh season and the 248th episode of The Simpsons . She won the Primetime Emmy Award in the Outstanding Animated Program (For Programming Less Than One Hour) category in 2000 .

In the style of a making-of - reportage with intermediate interviews the fictional history of the television series is The Simpsons told that thus goes back to an idea of Homer Simpson to try to produce a family series.
