Behnam Moghaddam (* 1981 in Tehran ), also known as Banshee LeStrange, is a German pop singer from Iran who became known through the casting show The Voice of Germany .

biography

Born in Iran , Moghaddam came to Kiel at the age of five and later to Hamburg. As a child he sang in a choir and then in a school band. He began studying mechanical engineering, which he gave up in favor of music. He is a band musician and is also working on a studio hip-hop project, among other things. In 2003 he took part in a casting show for the first time and was in the last 16 on Star Search . Three years later he received a scholarship to study music. Nevertheless, he couldn't make a living from music and had to take on numerous odd jobs, including the theater, as a market seller and as a tobacco tester.

In 2011 he applied for the new casting show format The Voice of Germany , where he appeared in live shows in early 2012. His first contribution there was The Sound of Silence by Simon & Garfunkel . The song brought him to the next round by audience vote and then came to number 41 in the German charts. His second contribution, Hurt , made famous in the version of Johnny Cash , took it to number 31. Moghaddam was the only participant who could place himself in the charts with all cover versions from the first three live rounds of the show. Twice the spectators voted for him directly, then he was eliminated in the round of the last 12. His band Mokka Express accompanies him on other appearances.
