With the Beijing Qiling , which is Chinese for the flip side of the flag , introduced in 2002 , the Chinese manufacturer Beijing Automobile Works is continuing its production of light trucks . The Beijing BJ-136 is considered to be the predecessor . The Japanese Isuzu N series provided the basis for development . The Qiling is only available with a 5-speed manual transmission.

For most countries, production takes place in the main Beijing plant. The Russian BAW Fenix is produced in Ulyanovsk by BAW-RUS Motor Corporation .
