Everything will be different with the next man is a satirical novel by Eva Heller from 1987, which topped the bestseller lists in Germany for months .

content

The student Constanze Wechselburger separates from her boyfriend, the assistant doctor Albert. He is stingy and, in their opinion, absolutely unable to relate . When looking for "the next man with whom everything will be different", she turns to her professor Gottfried Schachtschnabel. However, he is under the great influence of his wife, who is already separated. This spoils Constanze's stalking several times. Several of Constanze's friends are or were also looking for “the right one”, which leads to numerous entanglements and jealousies.

A million books of the novel are said to have been printed by 1989. Volker Hage from the weekly newspaper Die Zeit considered the book to be “clever and witty told” and stated that it was “full of malice” - Der Spiegel wrote that Eva Heller had proven with the book “that writing about relationship gossip is ironic and entertaining” let.

filming

The book was filmed in 1988 by director Xaver Schwarzenberger . The leading roles were played by Antje Schmidt , Dominic Raacke and Volkert Kraeft . In contrast to the book, the film also lives from the West Berlin local color and spins some of the threads a little further. Since Constanze Wechselburger studies film studies, love scenes from famous films like Casablanca or Gone with the Wind are caricatured in the film . These do not appear in the book.
