particularities third highest mountain on Islay

Beinn Bhàn is the third highest mountain on the Scottish Hebridean island of Islay . The 471 m high elevation is located in the southeast of the island about seven kilometers southwest of Cape McArthur's Head and nine kilometers north-northeast of the ferry terminal Port Ellen and east-southeast of the island's capital Bowmore . Within a radius of seven kilometers there are five other mountains with Beinn na Caillich , Sgorr nam Faoileann , Glas Bheinn , Beinn Bheigeir and Beinn Uraraidh .

Beinn Bhàn is located in a sparsely populated part of the island, which is why there are no roads leading to the mountain. However, hiking routes to the mountain are described that also include the surrounding peaks. On the slopes of the mountain there is a standing stone that is used as a meeting point for hunts. The stone 1.73 m high is 1.83 m at the base and 1.02 m wide at the top.
