The Beinn a 'Chochuill is a 980-meter-high mountain in the Scottish Highlands . Its Gaelic name can be translated as mountain of the shell . The mountain is in the Argyll and Bute Council Area and is classified as Munro and Marilyn .

Like the neighboring Beinn Eunaich to the east , the Beinn a 'Chochuill belongs to a mountain range that extends north of the Ben Cruachan between Loch Etive and Loch Awe. The two massifs are separated by the valleys of the Allt Mhoille, which flows east, and the Noe, which drains west in Loch Etive . Due to its southern and eastern neighbors and its somewhat lower altitude, the Beinn a 'Chochuill can hardly be seen from Loch Awe. After the Beinn Eunaich, its summit is the second highest point of this massif, the main ridge of which runs in an east-west direction. To the east, the ridge descends to a saddle to which the Beinn Eunaich joins. To the west, the ridge only gradually loses height until the massif gently runs out onto the banks of Loch Etive. From the summit of Beinn a 'Chochuill a short ridge runs south, which descends steeply to the 564 meter high Bealach des Lairig Noe , over which a transition to the Ben Cruachan massif is possible. To the north, the massif slopes down into the valley of the River Liver .

Most Munro excavators combine an ascent of Beinn a 'Chochuill with that of neighboring Beinn Eunaich. The starting point is the bridge on the B8077 , which branches off the nearby A85, over the Allt Mhoille near Castles Farm at the north end of Loch Awe. From there the ascent runs first in the valley of the Allt Mhoille to Lairig Noe and further over the south ridge to the summit, alternatively also over the broad, gradually rising south-east side. As a further option, the Beinn Eunaich can first be climbed, from there a wide connecting ridge leads in the west-northwest direction to the summit of Beinn a 'Chochuill. Climbing from the north towards Loch Etive and Glen Kinglass are also possible, but require very long and pathless marches through moorland and heathland and an overnight stay in the Bothy Narrachan .
