Beketov is a small impact crater in the northern foothills of the Mare Tranquillitatis . The ghost crater Jansen R is located to the south . To the northeast, on the edge of the Mare , lies the Vitruvius crater . Beketov was known as Jansen C before it was renamed by the International Astronomical Union (IAU) in 1976 . The main Jansen crater is filled in to the south.
