Vitruvius is an impact crater on the northeastern front of the moon on the edge of Mare Serenitatis , south of Littrow crater (moon crater) and east of Dawes . Beyond the Mons Vitruvius in the north, named after the crater, is the landing site of Apollo 17 . The crater rim is little eroded, the interior shows traces of extensive landslides.

The crater was officially named by the IAU in 1935 after the Roman architect Vitruvius .
