The BelAZ-7521 ( Russian БелАЗ-7521 ) is a Soviet large dump truck manufactured by BelAZ , which was manufactured in Belarus until 2003 after the collapse of the Soviet Union.

history

In the early to mid-1970s, the Soviet Union bought several dozen heavy US-made dump trucks for use in the open pit mining areas in the USSR. This was necessary because no such trucks in the 170-200-tonne payload class had been manufactured there. After the political cooling between the superpowers mid-1970s, the Soviet raw materials industry called for a domestic production of heavy dump trucks, in particular for the coalfield Neryungri . The state company BelAZ was commissioned to do this. Thus the heavy dump trucks BelAZ-7519 were created in 1977 and the BelAZ-7521 in 1979. Series production began in 1982/1983 with the improved model BelAZ-75211. Production continued after the collapse of the Soviet Union and finally ended with the BelAZ-75216 model in 2003. The successor model is the BelAZ-7518.

technology

The dump truck is all-wheel drive (4 × 4), reaches a maximum of 50 km / h and is powered by a diesel engine that feeds a diesel-electric drive. The 12-cylinder four-stroke diesel engine of the type D49 12TschN26 / 26 ( Д49 12ЧН26 / 26 ) from Kolomna has a displacement of 166 liters and develops a maximum of 2440 kW at a speed of 750–1000 / min. The electric traction motors are located on the axles and act on the wheels via planetary gears . The suspension works hydropneumatically and there are stabilizers on both axles . The brake acts hydraulically on brake disks on the motor shafts. The dimensions vary depending on the version. The driver's cab above the engine compartment, which is secured against falling objects, can be reached via a ladder and stairs at the front of the vehicle. The rear axle has twin tires.

  • BelAZ-75213 (1989–1991): further development of the model.
  • BelAZ-75214 (1991–1993): further development of the model.
