Bel Olid
Isabel Olid Báez (born October 4, 1977 in Mataró ) is a Catalan writer.
Life
Isabel Olid Báez studied languages at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) and has since worked as a translator and lecturer at the UAB. She writes for the daily Ara and has published in the magazines Tentacles and Núvol . Olid has been President of CEATL (Council of European Literary Translators' Associations ) since 2013 . In 2015 she was elected President of the Catalan writers association Associació d'Escriptors en Llengua Catalana (AELC).
Her first book for young people, Crida ben on, Estela! came out in 2009. She has written several children's books for the illustrator Pilarín Bayés . She translated by William Joyce The man in the moon and The Sandman . She translates into both Catalan and Castilian. With the award-winning essay Les heroïnes contrataquen. Models literaris contra l'universal masculí a la literatura infantil i juvenil, she also deals theoretically with the dominant male stereotypes in youth literature. Her stories, compiled in 2013 in the volume La mala reputació , are aimed at adult readers. She also writes poetry.
