history

Belgacom Mobile was founded in 1994 as a subsidiary of Belgacom with a 25% stake from first AirTouch and later Vodafone . It was the first GSM provider on the Belgian market. In 2006 Vodafone gave its 25% stake in Belgacom, but the two companies remained partners. For example, Proximus sold Vodafone Live cell phones and also has a Vodafone Live portal for customers. Belgacom last held 100% of Belgacom Mobile.

On January 4, 2010, Belgacom Mobile completely merged into its parent company Belgacom Group (today Proximus ), which at the time meant that Proximus only existed as a brand name. In June 2015 the Belgacom Group changed its name to Proximus , so that Proximus now also exists as a company name again.

This was founded as a reaction to the cheap brands of the other Belgian suppliers.
