Belisario L. Randone (born November 9, 1906 in Rome , † August 21, 1998 in Trevignano Romano ) was an Italian filmmaker and author .

Life

Randone, like his six sisters, initially worked as a ceramic artist in his father's profession, earning him the nickname "The Wolf of the Walls". From 1928 he headed the magazine Cronache d'Arte Educatrice, also founded by his father . In the 1930s, however, he turned to a completely different area of interest and work: cinema, for which he first appeared in 1934 as production manager for Francesco Pasinetti's Il canale degli angeli through his acquaintance with Alessandro Blasetti . Randone also worked as a source of ideas and scriptwriter, as an overall director and producer. In 1942 and 1943 he took the director's chair; first under the pseudonym R. De Ribon for L'uomo venuto dal mare , then for the Italian version of the French co-produced Service de nuit by Jean Faurez , Turno di notte - the story of a telephone operator who solves difficult cases with the resources of her profession.

Primarily, however, Randone worked as a playwright (“Veronica e gli ospiti”) and theater director and as a busy writer for television and radio (the series “Una commedia in 30 minuti”). For the screen, he wrote the template for L'altra madre in 1958 , which Mario Ferrero directed. Numerous other successes come from Randone's pen, e.g. B. Prcesso a Maria Antonietta , L'avvocato Carraturro , Markehim , La provvidenza e la chitarra , Il novelliere or Philo Vance .

His estate is kept in the Biblioteca Teatrale SIAS del Burcardo .
