Belissa Andía Pérez (* 1968 as Manuel Alexander Andía Pérez in the Atico Valley, Arequipa , Peru ) is secretary of the Instituto Runa de Desarrollo y Estudios sobre Género and ILGA board member as head of the transgender secretariat. This makes her the worldwide representative of the interests of transsexuals and transvestites at ILGA. She represents transsexuals on the board of the ILGA's Latin American regional organization. She is a member of the international advisory board of the Hirschfeld Eddy Foundation .

Live and act

She began her training at the Collegio "San Antonio de Padua" and then continued it in Gran Unidad Escolar Estatal "Bartolomé Herrera". During this time she was involved in Catholic organizations that were close to the liberation movement. At university, she turned to the labor movement and the issue of sexual liberation.

The 2005 Latin America Regional Conference decided to add a transsexual person to the regional board. Belissa Andía Pérez was elected to this position. The ILGA statutes only provide for one male and one female representation per region for the world board. She has been on the board of ILGA World since 2004.

Belissa Andía Pérez complains that even in modern societies, transgender people are stereotypically associated with low social status, sexually transmitted diseases and mental disorders. “We have no place in society,” says Andía Pérez. "Due to norms and narrow-mindedness, even today in some countries people who do not conform in their behavior to the binary man-woman world are punished for it by law." She describes transgender as disobedient to the rule of heteronormativity and not this only in a mental sense, but also in a physical sense through the bodies of transsexuals.

In 2006 she ran for the left-wing Movimiento Nueva Izquierda (MNI) party for parliament in Peru . This made her the first transgender candidate in a parliamentary election in Peru.
