The Bell Point is a rocky headland on King George Iceland in the archipelago of the South Shetland Islands . It is located 10 km southwest of Stigant Point near the western end of the island.
The headland was mapped and named Rocky Point in 1935 by participants in the British Discovery Investigations . To keep up with other formations to avoid confusion of this name, the named UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee in 1960, Cape after Dennis R. Bell (1934-59), from 1958 Assistenzmeteorologe the Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey in Admiralty Bay , which at 26 Was killed in a fall in a crevasse in July 1959 .
Polish scientists discovered in 1980 based on the glacier retreat in this area that the headland is apparently an island , which they named Wyspa Bella in Polish or Bell Island in English .
