Bellini (cocktail)
Bellini is a cocktail that consists of dry Prosecco , sparkling wine or champagne , half a pureed white peach and , if you like , some sugar syrup. The Bellini is one of the Contemporary Classic Cocktails of the International Bartenders Association .
history
The Bellini was developed by Giuseppe Cipriani (1900–1980) in 1948. Cipriani opened Harry's Bar in Venice on March 31, 1931 , which was a favorite hangout of Ernest Hemingway , Sinclair Lewis and Orson Welles .
The Bellini is named after the Venetian painter Giovanni Bellini , who founded the Venetian School of Painting together with his brother Gentile Bellini .
The Bellini quickly became a popular cocktail in Venice and is now one of the internationally known classics. It is still mixed in Harry's Bar today and, as a signature drink, is an important advertising medium for the bar.
Ready-made cocktail
A large number of ready-to-use cocktails in bottles or cans are now available in stores and are labeled with the “Bellini” flavor. Some of these are flavored beverages containing wine , which only have the name in common with the cocktail traditionally made from white peaches.
