Ben Gibson (film producer)

Ben Gibson (born 1958 in London ) is a British film producer who worked as an executive producer a . a. participated in the implementation of the films Love Is the Devil: Study for a Portrait of Francis Bacon  (1998), Beautiful People  (1999) and Under the Skin  (1997).

Life

Ben Gibson was a co-director at The Other Cinema and Metro Pictures . From 1988 to 1998 he worked as a producer at the British Film Institute (BFI). From 2001 to 2014 he directed the London Film School .

Since February 2016 he has been director of the German Film and Television Academy Berlin (dffb). On February 25, 2020, he was on leave with immediate effect due to an incident that occurred four days earlier. The Berliner Tagesspiegel reported about it: “The student body said Gibson had an argument with a student on the terrace of the Filmhaus - the academy is located in the high-rise of the Sony Center on Potsdamer Platz. The student reportedly yelled at Gibson for being dissatisfied with his work as director. Gibson is said to have lowered his pants and showed the student his bare bottom. It should not have been a graduate of the Dffb, but of the Potsdam Film University Babelsberg. "
