Ben Silvey , maiden name Benjamin Silberman (born May 23, 1894 in New York , † February 7, 1948 in Hollywood , California ) was an American assistant director who was nominated at the Academy Awards in 1934 for the Oscar for best assistant director .

Life

Silvey started at Wedding Rings in 1929 as an assistant director in the Hollywood film industry and in this role worked on the production of more than ten other films such as The Song of the Flame (1930), The Rothschilds (1934), Battle for India (1935) and Thanks a million (1935) with. At the Academy Awards in 1934 he was one of the nominees for the Oscar for best assistant director, which was only awarded for a few years.

Then he was involved as a producer or production manager in ten other films until his death, such as Jesse James, Man Without a Law (1939), Revenge for Jesse James (1940), Raid of the Ogalalla (1941), Adopted Happiness (1941), The Lifeboat (1944) and The Snake Pit (1948). He has worked with well-known film directors such as Henry King , Fritz Lang , H. Bruce Humberstone , Alfred Hitchcock and Anatole Litvak .
