Ben Sombogaart
Ben Sombogaart (born August 8, 1947 in Amsterdam ) is a Dutch film and television director.
Life
Sombogaart studied at the Nederlandse Film en Televisie Academie in Amsterdam . His first direction was the television series Allemaal tuig! (from 1982). He was first known through television and children's films, including Abeltje , Het Zakmes and Mijn Vader woont in Rio .
His film The Twins (2002), his first film not for a children's audience, brought him international recognition and was nominated for the Oscar / Best Foreign Language Film . His film De Storm about the flood disaster of 1953 , which was successful in the Netherlands , won an Outstanding Film Achievement Award at the Stony Brook Film Festival 2010. His 2008 film Bride Flight was also very successful in Dutch cinemas. Abeltje , Het Zakmes , Die Zwillinge (best director) and Kreuzzug in Jeans (2007) each received a Golden Calf at the Dutch film festival. Het Zakmes also received an Emmy Award.
