Benderloch ( Gaelic : Meudarloch ) is a small town in the north of the Scottish Council Area Argyll and Bute . It is located on the east bank of Ardmucknish Bay , a side bay of the Firth of Lorne , near the confluence of Loch Etive about nine kilometers northeast of Oban and 41 kilometers southwest of Fort William .

The village is connected to the trunk road network via the A828 , which connects the A82 near Oban along the west coast with the A85 . Benderloch used to have its own train station, which has since been abandoned. The nearest train station is four kilometers south in Connel . This is regularly served by trains on the West Highland Line between Crianlarich and Oban. Oban Airport is three kilometers south of Benderloch and offers daily flights to various Hebridean islands .
Attractions
Around Benderloch there are three monuments from the highest Scottish monument Category A. This includes originating from the 17th century mansion Lochnell House with its vast lands. The Lochnell Observatory is the second category A structure on top of these . The Barcaldine Castle residential tower is located north of Benderloch . It dates back to the early 17th century and was once the seat of the Barcaldine laird .
