Benedikt Georg Danek (born August 24, 1986 in Vienna ) is an Austrian basketball player . He is part of the squad of Bundesliga club BK Klosterneuburg .

Player career

Danek played for his hometown club BC Vienna 87 in the youth and in the men's team in the Vienna 1st class before moving to Arkadia Traiskirchen in the Bundesliga in 2004 . He played for the Lower Austrians until 2012 and was one of the best assists in the league year after year.

He left Traiskirchen in 2012 and went to BC Zepter Vienna . With this he won the Austrian championship title in 2012/13. After two years in Vienna, he returned to Lower Austria and again joined Traiskirchen. In the 2015/16 season, in which he recorded game averages of 10.1 points and 6.7 assists, Danek was named the best domestic player in the league (MVAP). In the summer of 2019 he switched to BK Klosterneuburg .

National team

Danek played in the Austrian U20 national team at the B-European Championship in Lisbon in 2006 and took part with the Austrian men's national team in the European Championship qualifying rounds for the European Championships in 2009, 2013 and 2015. He is also currently a member of the Austrian team, which has been fighting in the European pre-qualification and qualification for participation in the 2019 World Cup since summer 2017 .
