Benedikt Feigl

Benedikt Feigl (born October 30, 1988 in Starnberg ) is a Bavarian model airplane pilot . Feigl currently lives in Munich .

The industrial mechanic got into model flying through his father. Benedikt Feigl has been involved in model flying since 1994, and has been participating in competitive flying since 1995. In 2001 he became Bavarian champion among the juniors in class F3J (F = model flight division, 3 = radio-controlled model flight, J = thermal endurance flight) of the Fédération Aéronautique Internationale . In 2002 he took 1st place in the juniors and 8th place overall at the F3J Eurotour. He won the European Championship and World Cup from 2003 to 2006 with the junior team. In 2006 he won the individual runner-up in the junior world championship. His greatest successes are 1st place at the 2008 World Cup in Adapazarı , Turkey , 2nd place at the 2010 World Cup at Dole-Jura Airport , France and again 1st place at the 2012 World Cup in Johannesburg , South Africa . This makes Benedikt Feigl the youngest and first German world champion in model flying in the F3J category . Benedikt Feigl is a member of LSV Weilheim- Peißenberg .

His family is also currently the most successful family in Germany in the F3J class. His brother Sebastian Feigl won the title of European Champion in 2007, in 2008 Benedikt won the title of World Champion and Sebastian also secured the German Champion title. So far, no family has managed to hold these three possible titles in F3J at the same time.

Models

His first model airplane was a Riser 100 . In the meantime Feigl used the models Xperience and Shadow . The Xplorer model is currently being flown and is available in different versions. The planes are selected depending on wind and weather.
