F3J

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

F3J is a competitive class in international air sports . The regulations for these competitions are established by the Fédération Aéronautique Internationale in agreement with the national associations. The letter F stands for the model flight division , the number 3 for radio-controlled model flight and J for thermal continuous flight.

The competition class F3J has officially existed since 1993. The first European championship was held in 1997 in Poprad , Slovakia . Alex Hoekstra (NED) became European champion in the senior ranking and Kai Thomas (GER) in the junior ranking. World championships have been held every two years since 1998. In addition to the European and World Championships, there is the annual F3J Euro Tour. This includes several competitions in Germany and other European countries.

At the championships, in addition to the senior ranking, a youth ranking and a team ranking are flown out. The goal is to achieve a flight of 10 minutes after a high start with a radio-controlled glider model . This is completed by landing on a target. Each participant may use up to three models per competition.
