Benedictine Sisters of Adoration
The Benedictines of Adoration are a congregation in the Roman Catholic Church .
Foundation and designation
The congregation was founded in 1851 by Pastor Joseph Alois Faller in Bellemagny in Alsace . As a congregation of sisters with simple vows and without a papal enclosure , they originally called themselves Sisters of Perpetual Adoration . In 1956 the Congregation was incorporated into the Benedictine Confederation and renamed the Adoration Sisters of St. Benedict . In 1973 the German name of the congregation was again changed to Benedictine Sisters of Adoration ; the French is Bénédictines Adoratrices .
According to the idea of the founder, the sisters should cultivate eternal adoration , live according to Benedictine spirituality and devote themselves to the education of young people and charitable works.
The Benedictine Sisters of the Holy Sacrament , who were founded in France in the 17th century and are also called Benedictine Sisters of Perpetual Adoration, bear a similar name . The two religious communities are therefore often confused.
structure
The international congregation currently has three provinces. The Congregation of the Benedictines of Adoration is an institute under episcopal law .
