Benetice (German Benetitz ) is a district of the town of Světlá nad Sázavou . It is located four kilometers northwest of Světlá nad Sázavou and belongs to the Okres Havlíčkův Brod .

Benetice is located at the western foot of the Žebrákovský Kopec (601 m) in the forests of the Bohemian-Moravian Highlands on the right side of the Sázava .

Neighboring towns are Svatojanské Hutě and Opatovice in the north, Žebrákov in the northeast, Horní Březinka in the east, Dolní Březinka in the southeast, Mrzkovice and Leštinka in the south, Mezilesí and Pavlíkov in the southwest, Kostelík and Vilémovice in the west and Pavlov in the northwest.

history

The village was first mentioned in 1375 as Beneczicze . There used to be a glass factory in Benetice. Field names like Na sušírnách and the pond Sklárenský rybník can be derived from it. The name Benetitz can be traced back to 1787. After the abolition of patrimonial Benetice formed a municipality in the Ledeč district from 1850 . In the course of the municipal reform of 1960, the place was incorporated into Mrzkovice on January 1, 1961 and assigned to the Okres Havlíčkův Brod. Together with Mrzkovice, Benetice became part of Světlá nad Sázavou in 1980. The village consists of 31 houses, 16 of which were used for residential purposes in 2001. In 1991 Benetice had 39 inhabitants, in 2001 there were 32.

There is a leisure camp on the eastern edge of the village by the forestry department. This served as a pioneer camp until 1990 and it is visited by young people from Hungary , Poland and Germany .

A linden tree that was planted in 1945 grows on the village square of Benetice.
