Bengie

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Bengie , real name Benjamin Luís Zamot , (born April 11, 1986 in Arecibo , Puerto Rico ) is a Christian R&B and reggaeton artist.

Life

Benjamin was adopted when he was eight years old; He did not yet know his parents. He grew up in New Orleans . Since his adoptive parents were very religious, Bengie was also brought up in a Christian way. When he heard about his uncle living in Brazil at the age of 13, he went to Brazil to look for his uncle. But before he could tell Benjamin anything about his parents, his uncle died. Bengie wrote a song on it called Llueve La Sangre (Eng. It's raining blood ). Many Christian-oriented record companies became aware of Bengie, including Funky & Vico C . The label only wanted the lyrics, but Bengie also wanted success as a singer. He turned down the offer as a songwriter and opened his own label Bengierecods at the age of 16 . The single became a hit in the Latin area and the following album Un Rapero Diferente ( Eng . A slightly different rapper ) also. After that he had no further success for the time being, and he slipped into the barrios of Puerto Rico , where he moved after his first single. In 2004, Manny Montes rediscovered Bengie for his United Kingdom project, which was looking for young Christian talent. At the concert in Arecibo, he sang the song Llueve La Sangre and also found his birth parents, who still lived in Arecibo. In 2006, after Bengierecods went bankrupt in 2003, he founded a new label under the name Bengiestudio .

Music genre

All the songs on Bengie's debut album can be assigned to the genre of reggaeton , you could also hear a lot of electrical strings which is rather untypical for Christian reggaeton, but the album had great success in Latin America. Benjamin's style changed over time when his third studio album was released, it was now classic newfangled reggaeton that you heard on the long player. Since 2008 Bengie has been working a lot with melodic singing, he is developing more and more into an R&B artist with unmistakable vocals.

Achievements & Awards

  • After Daddy Yankee had been voted model of the year in Puerto Rico since 2004 , Bengie won this title in 2009, a year later his discoverer Manny Montes won the title, and in 2011 Daddy Yankee was again model of the year.
