Benita Hume

Benita Hume (born October 14, 1906 in London , England , † November 1, 1967 in Egerton , England) was an English actress .

Life

Hume came to the stage in 1923 and made his film debut the following year. There she played mainly elegant and attractive women in crime novels and romances. Her breakthrough came in 1928 with Maurice Elvey's Crimean War spy melodrama Balaclava , an audio version of which was also shown in British cinemas in 1930. In 1930 she played the leading female role of Leslie Fullerton in Ivor Novello's drama Symphony in Two Flats , with which Benita Hume also had some success on London and New York stages. In 1932 she accepted an offer in Hollywood, but couldn't really get her way there. In 1955 she was featured in the television series The Halls of Ivy .

As early as 1938 she retired from acting. She was married to Eric Otto Siepman from 1926 to 1931. She was married to actor Ronald Colman from 1938 until his death in 1958. The couple had a daughter, Juliet, in 1944. From 1959 until her death, she was married to actor George Sanders . Benita Hume died of bone cancer.
