Benjamín Rausseo (born January 26, 1961 in Musipán , Monagas ) is a Venezuelan entertainer and entrepreneur. In early 2006 he took the plunge into politics and is a candidate for the presidential elections in Venezuela on December 3, 2006 .

Life

He is better known under his stage name El Conde del Guacharo (or "El Conde" - the Count), which he uses for his appearances. His typical features are a straw hat and a colorful T-shirt. The "Conde" mainly deals with the relationship between men and women and the respective government of Venezuela in his shows. The strongly polarizing President Hugo Chávez offers him a good target, which he often takes advantage of, but has also brought him some enemies. Also inconveniences from the everyday life of Venezuelans, such as B. the bureaucracy , are not neglected in his appearances. Rausseo is known for his piquant humor - many of his gags go well below the belt. He calls the Band des Condes, which provides musical accompaniment to his performances, "Filharmónica Musipán" (Musipan Philharmonic Orchestra) after his hometown Musipán.

As "Conde", Rausseo is known and loved by Venezuelans at home and abroad as well as by the Spanish-speaking population of Florida . Beyond that, however, its awareness is rather low. Rausseo has released a number of CDs with his jokes, some of which were also released on records. Some of them are live recordings of his performances.

Rausseo had a supporting role in the award-winning Venezuelan short film "Cédula Ciudadano", which won several international awards.

Rausseo has also been an entrepreneur for several years. He owns an amusement park called Reino de Musipán (Kingdom of Musipán) on the holiday island of Isla Margarita , which is also named after his hometown. The concept is based on that of parks such as B. Disneyland , but Rausseo sees his park as a parody at the same time.

politics

Rausseo's entry into politics was ridiculed at first, but he showed a great deal of political background knowledge in interviews. Rausseo, popular and well-known among large parts of the Venezuelan population, became a serious candidate for the upcoming presidential election by mid-2006. He is in clear opposition to President Chavez, but little has been known about the program of his own party "Piedra" (in German: Stein).
