Benjamin Dean Wyatt

Benjamin Dean Wyatt (* 1775 ; † 1852 ) was an English architect and was trained by his father, the architect James Wyatt .

Wyatt attended Westminster School in London and studied at Christchurch College , Oxford . From 1813 to 1827 he was responsible as a building surveyor for the maintenance of Westminster Abbey .

Wyatt's well-known works include the Drury Lane Theater (1811) in London and the Crockford’s Club House (1827) in London's St James's Street. Together with Charles Barry he created large parts of the interior in Lancaster House , which is located in London on The Mall on the property right next to St James's Palace .

At Apsley House , Hyde Park Corner, Wyatt carried out renovations on behalf of the Duke of Wellington , who had purchased the house in 1817. In the course of this work, the building received its classicist porch and its brickwork made of honey-colored limestone .
