Benjamin Degen

Benjamin "Benny" Degen (born October 1, 1933 ; † November 30, 2013 ) was a Swiss politician ( PdA , PdA 1944).

Degen was a trained mechanic and worked for the social security office of the canton of Basel-Stadt . As an Orthodox communist, he distanced himself from the 68s and 80s movements. When, in the course of the dispute over the old city nursery , the PdA in Basel split up, he joined the orthodox "PdA (founded 1944)", which was subsequently excluded from the PdA Switzerland.

Degen was a member of the Grand Council of the Canton of Basel-Stadt from 1985 to 1992 and from 1997 to 2001 . In 2004 he ran for the Grand Council on the list of the Free Democratic Party .

His brother Georges Degen was a pioneer of the Progressive Organizations of Switzerland (POCH).
