Benno Kummer

Benno Kummer (born April 19, 1924 in Rüdigheim ; † March 16, 2007 ) was a German doctor .

Life

After studying medicine, completing his doctorate and habilitation , the private lecturer taught at the University of Frankfurt from 1958 to 1962 as a professor of anatomy. In 1962 he moved to the University of Cologne and in 1967 was appointed full professor. He headed the Anatomical Institute from 1968 to 1989.

As a student and employee of Friedrich Pauwels (1885–1980), he immersed himself in research into the human skeleton and its biomechanics. The functional anatomy of the functions and their treatment were the focus of his work.

After his retirement he was President of the German Society for Anatomy from 1991 to 1993 . He continued his research after his clinical work and in 2005 published a standard work on the biomechanics of the musculoskeletal system.
