Benno Mengele

Benno Mengele (born December 11, 1898 in Zwettl , Lower Austria , † September 15, 1971 in Vienna ) was an Austrian electrical engineer .

He studied from 1918 to 1923 at the Technical University of Vienna and from 1922 worked at the Austrian Siemens-Schuckertwerke . He developed the earth fault extinguishing and the fault circuit and in 1929 with Gustav Markt bundle conductor for high and extra high voltage transmissions. He also built Austria's first hydrogen-cooled three-phase machine. In 1965 the Vienna University of Technology awarded him an honorary doctorate .
