Benoît de Montferrand
Benoît de Montferrand (* before 1460; † May 7, 1491, presumably in Nyon ) was Bishop of Coutances from 1470 to 1476 and Bishop of Lausanne from 1476 until his death .

Benoît came from a noble family from the Bugey , he was the son of Pierre, Lord of Montferrand. He was an Antonite , studied in Paris and was first mentioned in 1460 as Abbot of Saint-Antoine-de-Viennois . From 1470 to 1476 he was Bishop of Coutances, was transferred to Lausanne on July 15, 1476 by Pope Sixtus IV in exchange with his nephew Giuliano della Rovere , who followed him in Coutances. In 1478 he also became Commander Abbot of Lutry . In the dispute with the independence-striving city of Lausanne , which was supported by Savoy , he sought support from Bern and Friborg .
