The Benson Hills are a group of hills on the Wilkins Coast of the Palmerland in the south of the Antarctic Peninsula . They tower 5 km east of the Berry massif at the head of Smith Inlet .
The United States Geological Survey mapped the area in 1974. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named the formation in 1976 after Lieutenant Arthur K. Benson of the United States Navy , medical officer at Palmer Station in 1969.
