Bentec GmbH Drilling & Oilfield Systems , based in Bad Bentheim on Deilmannstrasse, was founded in 1994 as an independent subsidiary within the KCA DEUTAG Group and emerged from Carl Deilmann Bergbau und Tiefbau , which was established in 1888 .

The manufacturer of heavy land drilling rigs and their equipment opened another location in Aberdeen , Scotland in 1995 . The company has continued to grow in recent years.

In October 2001, Bentec GmbH and DEUTAG were taken over by the Abbot Group, but they remained independent companies within this group. In 2008 the Abbot Group was taken over by the First Reserve Corporation .

In 2001 the Bentec GmbH company achieved sales of 27 million euros.

The manufacturer expanded again in 2003 and set up another branch in Moscow . To ensure service in Russia , the Middle East and Africa , the company founded the IDTEC joint venture in Oman in 2005 . So that Bentec GmbH could continue to cope with the demand, in 2007 it invested more than 20 million US dollars in a new branch in Tyumen , Russia, in order to set up new production facilities.

In 2009 the company had a turnover of EUR 139 million with 377 employees. To date, the employer of around 400 employees and 70 trainees in Germany is one of the largest training companies in the Grafschaft Bentheim .

As a result of the drop in the price of crude oil since 2014, the company ran into difficulties. Sales fell to around 63 million euros in the 2016 financial year. In 2016, the company had to cut around 100 jobs.
