Bentele

Bentele is a German family name .

It is a Swabian / Alemannic short form of the male given name Pantaleon . Today the name is widespread in southern Baden-Württemberg and there especially in the districts of Ravensburg and Lake Constance .

In the interpretation of the Dude, -le is not a suffix, but a -le (on) that has arisen from -leon by removing (on). This is how the relatively rare surname Pantele came about. When Pante was changed to Bente , the name Bantleon, which is still rarely used, was created.
