Günther Bentele

Günther Bentele (born March 24, 1941 in Bietigheim , Württemberg ) is a German writer for young people and a regional historian from Baden-Württemberg.

Life

Günther Bentele was born in Bietigheim in 1941 and is now a retired teacher. He was director of studies at the Christoph-Schrempf-Gymnasium Besigheim and taught the subjects German, history, ethics and philosophy. He is married to Sabine Bentele and has four children: Katrin, Susanne, Ulrich and Christoph.

Bentele gives historical city tours through the old town of Bietigheim-Bissingen and in his hometown also made a significant contribution to the preservation of the historical old town and its design. In 1971 he founded the citizens' initiative for a humane city in Bietigheim . Bentele continued his local political engagement in the local council from 1981.

Scientific work

His commitment and historical interest in the city of Bietigheim-Bissingen , among others , led to a large number of publications in the field of architectural and local history as well as folklore and regional studies.

Artistic creation

He not only published a lot about the architecture and history of Bietigheim, but also numerous books for children and young people. These are often historical crime novels, for which he has received numerous prizes. His tense books deal with researched historical material and are characterized by their homeland. The plot of many of his stories takes place either in his hometown itself, or in the area around Stuttgart or Baden-Württemberg . The stories are a mixture of a fictional novel and historical descriptions of those areas. He presents his current youth novels to the public at readings in various city ​​libraries . In addition, Bentele was the copywriter of episodes 115–129 of the Lurchi ’s Adventure series. The Hamburg artist Dietwald Doblies was responsible for the accompanying illustrations.
