Hermann Bentele
Hermann Anton Bentele (born July 8, 1923 in Ravensburg , † January 30, 2014 in Kiel ) was a German graphic artist , designer and university professor .
After studying in Stuttgart from 1940–1942 and 1946–1949 with Friedrich Hermann Ernst Schneidler at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart , he taught typography at the Technical University of Stuttgart until 1951 . He then worked for various publishers, including FA Brockhaus . In 1955 he took over the management of the graphics department at what was then the Muthesius School for Crafts and Applied Arts in Kiel. From 1961 to 1972 he held the position of director of the Muthesius-Werkschule and then, after the change of status to the Kiel University of Design, continued to represent the subject of applied graphics in the communication design course .
He designed the hexagon logo of the Landesbank Schleswig-Holstein and founded the competition for the Kiel Week poster. He designed several special stamps for the Deutsche Bundespost , including the values of 7 and 10 Pfennig for the State Exhibition in Baden-Württemberg in 1955 and in the same year the values of 10 + 2 and 20 + 3 Pfennig for the International Stamp Exhibition WESTROPA .
One of his master students was Bernhard Schwichtenberg .
