The Benton Island (or Benton Island ) is an ice-covered and 6 km long island in the Marshall Archipelago off the Saunders coast of the West Antarctic Marie Byrd Land . It is located 8 km northwest of Nolan Island .
The United States Geological Survey mapped them using the United States Navy's own surveys and aerial photographs from 1959 to 1965. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named them after William T. Benton, boatswain's mate on the icebreaker USS Glacier , which operated between 1961 and 1962 operated off the Saunders coast.
