Benton Sans
Benton Sans is a typeface that was designed by Tobias Frere-Jones in 1995 . Further cuts were made by Cyrus Highsmith . The font was named after Morris Fuller Benton and was significantly influenced by the News Gothic font . The font may be a. used as the corporate font of frog design and the Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen party .
Classification of the script
- According to DIN 16518 , Benton Sans is categorized in Group VI (sans serif linear antiqua).
- Hans Peter Willberg would classify it as an American grotesque within group VI of its own subgroup (group VIc) . Although it resembles group VIa in its letter and writing style , the letter proportions of these two subgroups differ from one another. The "American grotesque" has higher n-heights in proportion to the capital height and z. B. also a closed, mean ›g‹.
