Berend Schabus

Berend Schabus (born October 7, 1957 ) is an Austrian painter , graphic artist , theater director , speed skater and entrepreneur .

Live and act

Schabus studied until 1983 theater directing at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz and was then two years as an assistant director with little drama obligation at the Schauspielhaus Graz engaged. From 1989 to 1992 he was a university assistant for the opera class .

From 1980 he published caricatures , figurative and abstract watercolors , acrylic and oil paintings . Since 2005 he has been working as a freelance visual artist, since 2012 as part of a sole proprietorship with orders for the artistic design of private and commercial wall surfaces and rooms.

The artist has been a member of the MAERZ artists' association since 1994 and has been a member of the independent artist initiative Kunsthaus with exhibitions in the Klagenfurt area since 2014 .

Schabus was an athlete at the Wörthersee ice skating club and was Austrian national champion with numerous records . In 1976 he took part in the Olympic Winter Games in Innsbruck and reached 25th place on 1000 m, 26th on 500 m and 29th on 1500 m.
