Berending is a town in the West African state of Gambia .
According to a calculation for 2013, around 1763 inhabitants live there, the result of the last published census from 1993 was 1191.
geography
Berending is about 7.5 kilometers east of Essau . The place, in the North Bank region in the Lower Niumi district , lies on the north bank of the Gambia River .
Culture and sights
In Berending a sacred (crocodile) pond is known as a place of worship as (" Sacred Crocodile Basin of Berending "). It is one of three sacred crocodile pools in Gambia.
