history

In the 1950s there were the first initiatives that wanted to give the rear part of the Davos Valley a tourist perspective. Ultimately, two groups submitted a license application , one for the development of the area above the Stafelalp in the direction of Tiejer Flue and Chörbschorn, the other for the development of the Rinerhorn / Nüllischgrat. The FOT finally granted a concession to the development of the Rinerhorn for reasons of monument protection ( Frauenkirche , Stafelalp ) and snow security. On January 11, 1963, a license was finally granted for a Glaris- Rinerhorn-Nüllischgrat cable car . Since there were financing problems and in order not to risk the concession expiring, planning had to be rescheduled in the end. Instead of the cable car, it was decided to build a chair lift to Jatzmeder. In the summer of 1969, the construction of the Davos Glaris chairlift as a feeder began. In addition, the Juonli double ski lift and the Nülli ski lift were built, as well as the Jatzmeder mountain restaurant. All three cable cars were built by the Habegger company. The ski area was finally opened on December 16, 1969. In 1971 the Nülli ski lift was expanded into a double ski lift, increasing its capacity. In 1981 the T-bar lift Trainer was installed by the Oehler company, which was taken over from the Parsenn ski area when used . In 1982, Habegger built the Hubel drag lift, the last expansion of the ski area to date. In 1987 the Glaris-Jatzmeder chairlift was finally replaced by a more powerful detachable gondola from the Garaventa company .

In the 1990s, the Rinerhorn mountain railways ran into financial difficulties. When they were close to bankruptcy in 1996, Davos-Parsenn-Bahnen AG took over a majority stake of 56.94% in Bergbahnen Rinerhorn. This stake came to the Davos Klosters Bergbahnen , into which the Davos-Parsenn-Bahnen merged in 2003.

Projects

In 2018, the Rinerhorn mountain railways plan to invest 3.75 million francs in artificial snowmaking . Specifically, the slopes on the Juonli T-bar lift and the lower part of the slope on the Nülli are supposed to have more snow. In addition, a reservoir is planned 100 m below the valley station of the Nülli drag lift.

In the medium term, the aim is to connect the Rinerhorn ski area with that of the Jakobshorn . The discussion is about an aerial tramway that spans the Sertig Valley, or a connection variant through the Sertig Valley with additional downhill options, with valley stations in the Mühle or Gämpi area being possible.
