Furre mountains
Berge Ragnar Furre (born April 13, 1937 in Sjernarøy , Finnøy ; † January 11, 2016 ) was a Norwegian politician , historian and professor of theology at the University of Oslo .
Life
Furre was from 1973 to 1977 a member of the Storting for the Socialist Left Party , of which he was parliamentary chairman from 1975 to 1976. From 1976 to 1983 he was the successor to Berit Ås chairman of the party.
In 1985 and 1986 he was Professor of History at the University of Tromsø and from 1991 Professor of Church History at the University of Oslo . Since 2003 he has been a member of the Norwegian Nobel Commission for the nomination of the Nobel Peace Prize winners and was elected deputy head in the same year. Furre also published several books, mostly on historical and political subjects about Norway.
