The Berghotel Faulhorn is a privately operated, alpine refuge . It is located in the Bernese Pre-Alps a few meters below the summit of the Faulhorn ( 2681 m ).
history
In 1823 a restaurant was opened on the summit of the Faulhorn on the basis of an inn patent granted the previous year, which at that time was the highest restaurant in the Alps. The hotel building that still exists today was built in 1830.
Promotion opportunities
- The shortest ascent begins at the mountain station of the cable car that leads from Grindelwald to First ( 2167 m ). This route takes just under 2.5 hours. The ascent from Grindelwald without using an ascent aid takes about twice as long.
- From Bussalp ( 1800 m ), which can be reached by buses in summer , the Faulhorn can be reached in around 2.5 to 3 hours.
- From the mountain station of the Schynige Platte Railway ( 1987 m ) you can reach the Faulhorn in 4 to 4.5 hours.
